Hello Michael, A great collection!!! Do you have Izzy riding on top of the Budweiser Wagon with the Clydesdales? Stamped on back "TM@9293ACOG", old Izzy, no nose. Was told ACOG then advised Budweiser not to mix Izzy and Beer. There is also an Xerox Holiday Izzy collection. Keep on collectiong, the Izzy pins look fantastic!!! Love those Izzy Hard Rock Guitar pins. File Orcutt

Great Izzy site. Didn't know there were quite so many different pins. Will keep my eyes open for others and sort through my collection to see if I have any you are missing (I doubt it!). Wishing San Francisco got the US bid for 2012 (and won the overall bid) so I could start my own extensive mascot pin collection!

I enjoyed seeing the many faces of "Izzy" and remembering the Games. Your site did confirm that at least one pin I continue to hunt does really exist. I missed getting it years ago, but looks like if I keep hunting, I'll find one. (Your catalog #2104). I especially enjoyed the picture of your equine Izzy. We used to raise, train and show Appaloosa sporthorses and I still hope someday we can find a warmblood to breed to our stallion (before he's way too old) for a true spotted sporthorse.

You've got to be kidding! Izzy was barred from Olympic events not because of the "excitement" he generated, but because he was ugly and absurd and frightened small children. A tribute to "mascots by committee", Izzy is reviled by all who bother to remember him. All mascots generally suck, but Izzy is by far the worst.

I have to agree with the last two correspondents: Izzy was a disaster and I hated him from Day 1 of the Olympics. Parenthetically, I would note that adults probably shouldn't get too wrapped up in animated characters created to sell pins and hats to kids. Regards, Jeff

I remember Izzy when I was a nine-year-old girl. Izzy was a blue, tear-shaped "blob" with rings around his eyes and tail. Izzy was a mascot at the 1996 Summer Olympic Games. I went to the Olympic Games eleven years ago.

Sorry to be the gadfly, but Izzy was an embarrassment! Misha from Moscow '80 was a great mascot--the best yet, in my opinion. Sam from L.A. '84 also was a great mascot. Hidori from Seoul '88 and Cobi from Barcelona '84 had ample charm as well, but the Centennial Games of 1996 deserved a mascot much more creative than Izzy, and much more succinctly symbolic of the Olympics and its history. Oh, and why did Izzy have to be a teenager in the first place? Did adult fans of the Olympics even matter to those who designed Izzy in the first place? Time Magazine had it right: the amorphous, smiling blob looked like blue sperm in sneakers. The Atlanta Olympics deserved much better.
